Quantum Thinking for the Win!

Ever heard of Quantum Thinking? Simply put, it’s the ability to see an issue from all sides by remaining open to possibilities versus being handcuffed to absolutes.

The key to quantum thinking is a true belief that that the world is complicated, filled with nuances. Couple that with a key coaching belief that each of us are doing our very best in every moment based on our past experiences, values and beliefs, and we just may have hit on a new approach to life.  

With these beliefs, how would you be able to listen more deeply? How would you be able to be more empathetic and less judgmental? How would your reactions change? How would it enable you to live more calmly and peacefully? 

And when you change your approach, think just how much more open you’d be to receiving differing opinions, digesting other points of view. In the polarizing world we live in, this could be just the approach we need to quiet the noise, calm flaming tempers and live with a little more peace and grace. 

Here are a few tips to practice approaching life through this lens: 

  1. Activate: Listen with an open mind. What could also be right about this differing point of view? 

  2. Reflect: Recall an instance when you viewed something as an absolute and then came to see different views. How did this expand your views? 

  3. Contemplate: Think through two opposing views – where is the common ground? How does this form new possibilities

  4. Meditate: Sit with what you’ve just heard from someone. How does this open your mind to other possibilities?
