Celebrate Your Quirks

We all have those quirky things about us - those traits that make us uniquely US. But we tend to hide them for fear of being judged by others.

I’ll admit it. This picture is not the most flattering and it’s been sitting in my “draft-to-post” folder for a while. Yet every time I’ve scrolled across it, my inner voice says “that’s too ‘out-there’ Beth. Not yet.” But it paints a great picture of who I REALLY AM - A slightly goofy woman who likes to do creative things with every day objects.

The topic of individual quirks has come up a lot with my clients over the past few weeks and are a key element of my June Mindfulness workshop Kaleidoscope of Excellence. So I figured it was time to OWN my goofy quirk.

And honestly, it feels great! Those who know me best already know this about me. And it’s probably one of the reasons they genuinely like me. For those who don’t know me - here ya go! One of the many layers of who I am is goofy, getting sheer joy from having fun and creating a fun environment for those around me.

When we OWN our quirks, we not only feel more comfortable with ourselves, but we open our hearts more to others by removing some of the judgement we tend to lead with.

I encourage you to do some honest thinking this week about your quirks. Which are you hiding from yourself and others. How’s that preventing people from knowing the real you? And what would they really think if they knew? I bet it isn’t nearly as bad as you’re making it out to be!
